Go out the Surigao Straits head to Palau for some excellent diving then head back to Davao on the next monsoon.

Sorry couldn't resist

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the UK has still a negative travel advice about Mindanao.

The overall level of the advice has not changed; we advise against all travel to specific areas of the Philippines and against all but essential travel to other specific areas of the Philippines.

Re: East Coast of Mindanoa

Hey I am surprised you are not getting more replies to your request. I hope it wasn't my remark that scared others away. In any event our friends on Jaraman went that route just after we left for Palau and then went to Palau the next year. They are in transit now and out of email range (Marshalls toward Oz) when we get back in touch with them I will ask for the stops the made and post them to you.

Cheers

Mark

Re: East Coast of Mindanoa

Do you mean Mindanao in the Philippines? East coast should be safe. If there is trouble it is in the southwest. Probably best to not go further south than Davao but someone should have better info. Also the east coast just got wasted by a typhoon so onshore infrastructure is probably still recovering. X2 on visiting Palau...you may never leave.

Feb/Mar strong easterly trades.
