Cheap Dryland Storage in BC ?

Our friends are leaving next summer to purchase a boat in Europe and cruise for a few years. In the meantime, they'd like to store their current boat on the hard, somewhere in British Columbia.

The yard storage rates around Vancouver seem a little high. Can anyone suggest some cheap storage options in BC? Maybe on Vancouver Island somewhere?

Thanks!

If they are going for a few years I would consider Astoria, OR I think they were $141.00 per month for a 41' boat a couple of years ago. No sales tax worries in Oregon.

Cheap and BC in the same sentence. You're kidding right? How big is the boat. Can it be trucked away from the waterfront. May be easier and cheaper to find storage space if it can. Have you looked for space up the Fraser River?

Don't know about B.C., but a few years ago when I was looking at a real fixer upper 46' long I did some checking around. It was going to cost $300 for a hydraulic boat mover to take the boat to an RV/boat storage area around 10 miles out of town that said they'd charge, IIRC it was less than $75 a month. So I would check out rural RV storage places.

I know there is one in Chilliwack because I checked out a Folkes 39 up there. Didn't ask how much it cost to keep it there though.

There was a Cal 39 in some guys yard up in Sultan in the mountains in Washington some years ago. Maybe a farmer with some unused space would like to make a few bucks.

Dancing Bear a Cal 40 was fixed up on a farm near Port Susan. Then he did a transpac.
