Re: Change of Plan

Well.... this is one grand ripoff... got here this morning and got a weepy my hubbies in hospital for a transplant so cannot pay you it all but have put 3K in your account... your ticket is for tonight... wow that was fast... checked account nothing there... she then said it went in Sat so would not show yet... hmmmmmmmm
So I reminded her I'd asked in Darwin for her to have my fee in cash and ticket for when I arrived... then got told she could not pay me cash as I was working in Oz illegally... ever be conned and given the 'Bum's Rush'
My advice to other EU Delivery Skippers is.. do not touch an Ozzie job with a barge pole if these folk are anything to go by... 7 1/2 months off blood, sweat and tears for this and this is the boat... ELLE BO

So what do I do... take the boat out and anchor off... sink it...????

WTF - words fail me

Mate, once you get some access to and from the harbour, a few beers will help put some good humour back into the body and the problems will be solved.

you stopped working once you arrived in aus,and stepped onto the land as a tourist...as far as i can see......if it is otherwise the owner is in deep **** for knowingly employing an illegal worker, against their will on a honestly obtained tourist visa, when all they want to do is go home with renumeration gained outside of australia!

sounds like i will pay you on friday ,checks in the post....and i won't.........sort of scenario!

Agree with Athol - the "illegally working in Oz" thing is BS, see my post on the new thread for this.

Re: Change of Plan

Often the Quokka classifieds will list short term mooring rentals in Mangles Bay near Rockingham:
Search results | Quokka

Better to get a free printed issue on Thursdays.

As a last resort you'll find unused moorings on the north east side of Garden Island between Rockingham and Fremantle. There is no land access to this island as its blocked by the Naval base at the southern part of the island. Visitors can go ashore during the daytime but must be off the island (on their moored boat) by nightfall. I was just sailing by there yesterday and there are a couple of boats visiting at the moment but lots of moorings available. There was once a jetty at the north side of this beach. The outward end of the jetty is still visible, but the rest is sunk. Watch our for submerged hazards where the jetty used to be.

Phil, there are a couple of different e visas, if yours is an EU type and you stated you actual reason i think that you are ok - but imigration law is not something that i have studied.

FWIW i was technicaly an ilegal imigrant here for over 25 years, only found out by acident. Took 1 hour to sort, they were realy good.

Re: Change of Plan

Seems to me you have got free lodging on board until you get paid even if you are no longer employed. What are they going to do call the police? Just tell the owners you'll be staying on board until the money is in the account. In the meantime provision up with case of Foster's or other local brew and put your feet up and put a couple of shrimp on the barbie.

Re: Change of Plan

What F###ing Arseholes,
Reneging on payment is just not on,
You are not working in Australia, your delivering a boat.
Have a word with Customs, Explain your situation, they might be able to get it sorted for you,
They do have a lot of power, More so than the coppers.
Australian law does have laws to stop this sort of thing,

Try the Marine Police as well,

Thats blatant fraud,
