Re: Calm anchorage at Byron Bay?

Thanks very much for all your input, ideas and links its very much appreciated.

This morning we left Byron Bay aiming with final destination Coffs Harbour or at least to Yamba/Iluka but this was not to happen. With the wind right on our nose, big swell and rough waters and after a lengthy conversation with VMR Ballina it was decided to head back to Byron Bay. We are now back at anchor at Byron Bay but with the Southerly wind its not as uncomfortable as before. We will sit here for the right window to head south in the meantime there are still plenty of whales about to distract us from this waiting game.

Thank you once again

Yes, good plan. Northerlies should be back in short time. Hopefully Thursday morning. Enjoy the locals!

Re: Calm anchorage at Byron Bay?

There's nothing like a safe port! Pity though, the Surf n Turf and Y-Knot salad at Coff's Harbour Yacht Club is the best in the world...

I would have thought the Southerly had passed and you had a bit of a lull before some Northerly. What did the wind end up doing? (I'd also like to see how accurate BOM is.)

Arrived in Coffs yesterday after a 26 hour journey from Southport.

Waiting for weather to settle before we continue south
