The months between Feb.,March,April,is the usual time most boats cross.A boat is close to Pitcairn Is. at this time, departed from Puerto Vallarta, another is en route from Cabo to Galapagos at this time.Another boat is arriving in Hawaii any day from Cabo. Its recommended not to arrive in Polynesia before April.None have experienced winds greater than 35knots.Eastern Pacific Hurricane season starts June 1.Check out the Puddlejump website.

The best time to cruise the South Pacific is April through October, so you should hope to depart Mexico in late March to early April.

Not in the hurricane season and not too late in the good season either - you do not want to reach the FP late - to many good things there.

so you didnt hit the trades until you were about 4 or 5 degrees north of the equator? how much motoring did you do? and how long was your longest stretch at sea.
ive heard that area can get really flat at certain times of the year.
i was thinking about goin across the equator a bit further east, do you think that would make much difference?

The first paragraph on the linked page says:
"Pilot Charts depict averages in prevailing winds and currents, air and sea temperatures, wave heights, ice limits, visibility, barometric pressure, and weather conditions at different times of the year. The information used to compile these averages was obtained from oceanographic and meteorologic observations over many decades during the late 18th and 19th centuries."
