Jack Dale
"Rescue Me – Are You Ready?"
Jack was the return
delivery skipper on Turicum, a Vic - Maui
boat, during a
medical evacuation to an 1100 foot container ship 1040 miles north of
Hawaii in August, 2012. The presentation discusses both the evacuation, with video from our perspective and from the container ship, and the role of the Automated Mutual-assistance VEssel
Rescue System (AMVER) in
marine rescues.
Jack Dale has sailed for 30 years. In that time he was accrued over 36,000 miles. 10,000 miles of that are passages including three Vic-Maui returns and a
delivery from
Newport RI to St Barths via
Bermuda. He has circumnavigated
Vancouver Island 12 times, once on the 2007 Van Isle 360. His
race experience also includes 3 Swiftsure races. His cruising grounds have included
Turkey, the
Caribbean, the
Bahamas, and the Pacific North West. For the past two decades Jack has been a cruising instructor.
