Are there any deserted islands like in the movies?

Maybe a silly and childish questions, but I was wondering if there are any deserted islands left?

Just because it is fun to dream about sometimes being cast away so to speak and anchored in some lagoon and it's just you. No clearance, not red tape, no time limit, just your own island to pick coconuts and fish and find tropical fruit.

No, it's not my highest priority of a destination, I just want to know if there is anything out there or is everything private.

The Chinese could build you one, in the South China Sea,-- if you ask them nicely

not really. and will get worse as looks like wars these days done by use of penises - who will produce more humans and pollute & pollute.

Somewhere in the future, will be back to normal again but not before lots & lots of dieing and couple 100 years.

Still better today than in 10 years down the track. so better do it now whatever you want to do.

Yes. There is only one left, but I’m not telling where it is.

Lots of deserted islands around (probably millions). Hell I know of a bunch just in the Boston area.

The thing to remember is that deserted islands are deserted for a reason!

Re: Are there any deserted islands like in the movies?

There are tens (hundreds?) of thousands of deserted islands, but they are almost all claimed by one or more countries, so don't expect to avoid government regulation. If an island is deserted there is usually a reason ... remote ... no rain ... no soil ... no anchorage ... extreme weather ... pirates ... war ... government regulations ... etc. The North of Australia has hundreds (thousands?) of deserted islands surrounded by coral reefs, fish, and with a few coconut trees. The islands are mostly national parks surrounded by marine parks, but reasonably easy to find somewhere to legally anchor and fish, and unlikely you will see any humans apart from the daily coast watch plane.

There can always be red tape, anywhere. Coconut milk if you can climb a tall skinny tree. If there is drinking water and it stays above sea level somebody is probably already living there or has a fish camp there.
You didn't mention finding one without trash on the beach. there are very few without that.

Lots of deserted islands but every single one is claimed by some country somewhere. You can go to many of them and be the only person there but you WILL have to deal with the red tape or deal with the consequences.

You could always build your own island, then float it to wherever you want.

Richart Sowa built Joyxee Island near Mexico out of recycled bottles | Daily Mail Online

I helped Richie build this one nearly ten years ago, off Isla Mujeres. He seems to be doing fairly well for himself lately!

Re: Are there any deserted islands like in the movies?

Many ,many in the Bahamas, but no water,so bring ,or catch your own.

I my girlfriend (later my wife) and I were offered an Island to live on by a charming British educated young man named Terry who lived on another island a few miles distant.Terry promised low rent and it was apparent he really was longing for some human contact that would allow for some intellectual exchange in this seemingly remote area.
The Island consisted of a few acres with an iconic horseshoe shaped cove with the white sugar sand beach so common there along with the requisite overhanging palm trees and iridescent blue water surrounding all filled with fish and conch. YES! REALLY! I believe this area near Little Farmers KEY is now national park and deservedly so. There was a 1 room native style cabin (no windows or plumbing) tucked under the palms overlooking this vision.
But I had spent years preparing for the fine adventure I was already having and was not looking to return to a land based existence that I suspected would soon turn tedious.

Well, I'm ready for a little tedium now,so Terry, if your offer is still out there please contact me here @ CF ,I'm now in the position to pay the rent in advance.

………………………..luv you all……………..mike…………………………………………………………………..

Re: Are there any deserted islands like in the movies?

There are many. I am not sure what movies you have in mind though.

If an island is deserted, there is a reason for that, like lacking water or no landing or a nature reserve or too cold or ... same like vast areas of continents.

Islands are deserted for a reason. If they are inhabitable, they are inhabited.

DING! DING! DING! We have a winner!

There are plenty of deserted islands around the world, and you wouldn't want to spend any real amount of time on any of them!

There are a fair number in the Indian Ocean - but bring your own food and water maker. They are all claimed by various countries but we have never experienced any issues.

Check out Beveridge Reef...yes, Beveridge Reef is thought to be the remains of an Atoll that was wiped clean of soil by a massive storm or two. At low tide it produces a surface you can walk on while the ocean around you is some 19,000 feet deep. It is an amazing place to visit. We spent a week there back in 2010.
