The amount of chain for me to anchor in about 1.5 fathoms .

"Shot" of chain??? Ya trying to turn this into a gun thread, mate?

And when i was 13, everyone learned o n a stick shift... cause there were damn few automatics around, they were all on pretty new cars, and no one lets a kid drive their new car!

I didn't either and yes it takes about a shot of chain for me to anchor in ten feet of water. I have a 3 ft freeboard. 3ft + 10 ft of water x 7 to 1 escape is = to 91 ft total chain or just a few links over one shot

Frayed knot!

Knots per hour is acceleration, not a speed.

And your math is wrong too.
1.4 minutes per minute is 84 minutes per hour - or 84 knots.
100 knots = 1.67 minutes per minute.

THanks I didn't really do the math figured you would and the original question stated kph and in a maritime themed thread I assumed it to be knots per hour. Which is a measure of speed not acceleration. ( distance covered in one hour.)
Stu this is for you

Once again:
A knot is a measure of speed. It is 1 nm per hour.
= 6076.12 feet per hour = 1.688 feet per second (fps)

A knot per hour is an acceleration.
i.e 1.688 fps per hour = 0.000469 fps/sec

By way of comparison, the acceleration due to gravity at the earths surface ( commonly referred to a "g") is 32.2 fps/sec.

Which means that 1 knot per hour is approx 1/68700 g
Or: when you jump off a cliff, you experience about 68700 knots per hour.
