Re: Yacht in trouble

Prolonged gale force winds here in the Hudson Valley yesterday, almost had to reef my socks while hiking.Had been thinking as to how I would not want to be offshore in this.
Cape Sable is notorious and just the type of place to avoid with a N.W. blow.
Yachts become very difficult to manage in heavy conditions and there are many ways to go wrong;it's not just breaking waves as some here would like to believe.
Would like to know more on this one.

Re: Yacht in trouble

I feel really bad for them however one has to wonder what they were thinking being out there in March? What happened is exactly what the pilot charts said would happen.
