Winter Blues

OK - so the winds were too strong to haul out this weekend but next weekend she'll be out & on the hard until May. So as a new sailor already feeling the winter blues - any suggestions on what to do over the winter?

Re: Winter Blues

Well, I'll be working on some of the projects that I was planning to get done over the summer. Except when my girlfriend makes me go on a chartered crewed sailboat somewhere warm in January. As they say to get along go along. Though I do like to head down to the boat when we get a nice relatively warm day and relax with a beverage in the cockpit overlooking the empty harbor. Listening to the stillness and noticing the different birds that are wintering in the area. I still enjoy the boat in winter only it does not rock or swing around in the boatyard and I can't go swimming. But, I still enjoy hanging out on it.

Re: Winter Blues

It's HOT here is SW Florida too but we still have work to do before we head back to the Bahamas.

Yeah I know. Every year I keep thinking about it. Especially when the yard storage bill keeps going up. Would probably pay for the trip down and then some. It will happen at some point. But, I still like the seasonal changes too. Even a big snow storm I find kind of nice. Hunkering down for a few days with the Franklin stove going and backyard full of snow. I kind of like it. Though a mid winter boat charter does help to take the edge off of winter too.
