Bahamas during the winter, and then from Abacos to Bermuda in May and then early June Bermuda to Newport or New York.
Kettlewell, thanks for your advice. Since I do not have to be at any place at any given time, most likely I would leave GL at the end of the summer, and slowly go down south. My insurance require mi to hang above 31N Lat. from June 01 to November 01.
I would need to leave my boat for 1 - 1 1/2 month and return to Michigan.
Will appreciated any info about hurricane-safe marinas in Georgia or SC. In the past I've used Northwest Creek Marina (great place) on Neuse River in NC. But would like to be further south.

Re: Winer passage from Bermuda to Bahamas

Hurricane resistant marinas (no place is completely safe) that I know of:

1. Osprey Marina, Mile 373.2, off the Waccamaw River, SC.

2. Skull Creek or Windmill Harbor at Hilton Head, Miles 555 or so, SC.

You probably don't want to go much further south than that, I am gathering. Keep in mind that the whole Cape Hatteras area is a hurricane magnet, so that anything from Beaufort, NC, to Norfolk, VA, is likely to get hit by a storm or two or more. I'd prefer to leave my boat in the Chesapeake and then move it south if you have to leave it for a few months during hurricane season.

Re: Winter passage from Bermuda to Bahamas

Cap'n Ziggy, what time of year did you do the GL-Bermuda return trip (in 2009)?
