re: Windlass Purchase Misery

On the thread about the ICOM 602 command mike power cords, a CF member called N-Animation reported having prompted a response from a non-responding company be sending a certified letter to the CEO of the Company.

I do not know if this approach would work for the OP in this thread, but if it is an option, it might be worth a go. Simply detail the events and ask that they reimburse you for the fees their error caused.

Good luck with it.

Ann

re: Windlass Purchase Misery

Might have been a better idea to buy the windlass from a Canadian dealer.

Thanks for sharing. I stopped using eBay a year ago when I had a vendor screw me and eBay removed my feedback. They lost credibility when they did that

Quick is a very well-known and long-established Italian company that makes a variety of windlasses and controls, thrusters, electrical components etc.

Not Chinese, nor fly-by-night, nor low quality.

re: Windlass Purchase Misery

I tried to buy replacement water heaters from Quick. They had no interest in supplying the 220V units I needed even though they ostensibly make them. Eventually they said they could supply them at exorbitant prices. The prices of their vendors were also all over the map. I was told that they had no pricing control of their vendors. Clearly just bad US management. Ended up buying Isotherms which are very similar and much less expensive. I have had good experiences with Isotherm support over the years.

Wholesalers do not have pricing control over vendors. To do so is price fixing.

Who cares? Many resellers adhere to MSRP anyway, but its beside the point.

As for price fixing and MSRP....
All the big boys will yank you from their dealer network for selling below their pricing structure, call it price fixing or call it reality but it is true. Of course there is a Fake MSRP that is published and then the Real RMSRP....that way vendors like Defender can have a "special below MSRP" price that you can sometimes only see by clicking on the link...all phycological marketing my friend. You didn't buy anything for below MSRP....you just paid the real price that both the manufacturer, distributor and retaiker can keep the doors open with.....

For advertising below, not selling below.
