I was admiring a lovely looking boat on the hard
stand recently, and in discussion with the owner learned that it was a Pacific Seacraft
40 designed by William Crealock
The owner said that William Crealock
had spent time in Australia
with the Swanson brothers in New South Wales, hence the similar canoe stern designs of the Swansons.
I've read what I can find of William Crealock, and he certainly seems to have been a gifted yacht designer
, but nothing seems to indicate that he ever came to Australia
, and aside from the canoe stern there's not a lot of apparent similarity between the Pacific Seacraft
and the Swanson.
Does anyone know if this theory by the Pacific Seacraft owner has any merit and if William Crealock did spend some time in Australia? The design of my boat harks back to the sixties, which would have put Mr Crealock in his late 40's at the time.
