Maybe we're all thoughtless.

Sorry - couldn't help myself.

Hmmmm, maybe not. I do notice a difference in weekends. It drops a little. The week tends to pick up. Us down under folks are trying to enjoy as much Summer as we can of course. It maybe more because of you being indoors more, being winter and all. I notice a big drop of from the "on top of the world" guy's posting during their summer.
As for the ones on line. They may not actually be "on line" as such. They may just be permanently logged on.

It really sucks when the best sailing weather is also the best painting weather. No wonder my boats always need paint.

ok

Is it defeating the purpose that I'm sitting in the cockpit of Windthief in shorts and a t-shirt typing this?

OK, OK, I'll stop now. It'll come in due time for you guys who are in the cold.

Brad

Brad - Point Loma is San Diego ? I will be out in May. Looking for spot south of LA to keep boat. Seem to be some reasonable prices on docks and moorings. What is your view ?

The Santa Anas are blowing Windthief, you should sail north while the gettin's good. Don't want to get too much of a good thing

moorage

first off yea there is a little santa anna right now that's why the nice weather. The only thing is no one like the bash up north.

Moorage, Forget Dana point it's city run and a ten year waiting list for permenant slips. I guess I should ask that first, temp or not. there are alot of transient slips available right now. Shelter Island is pretty much the hub of San Diego's boating and yacht community. As well as the major stopping off spot before mex and beyond. I pay, now take into account that the closer the marina to the actual ocean the more expensive and Shelter Island, pt loma is th clossest, 594.00 for 39ft. San Diego bay is huge though. If you don't mind being further away Chula Vista has a fantastic marina for quite a bit less. Mission Bay may have some spots in Quivira Basin ( marina village, seaforth is a little shady, and dana landing) anything other than Quivira Basin in Mission Bay you really need a 30ft or less mast and even that's scetchy.

consider this

California yacht club is great for this area they have alot of marinas and you get to use them all. The club here in San Diego is awsome and allows liveaboards. U would have access to the club on Catalina island. The local one is in Chula Vista, figure about a 1.5 hour sail to the ocean or a 30 min motor. The difference in time is because the wind can be very fickle here on the west coast.
