That is where the head is on my boat. A much better use for that space IMHO.

How tall are you? The V-berth in
a Catalina 27 is about 73" give or take.
I've never tried lying down in one.

I'm 6'2". Would I be comfortable
in that V-berth? I'm thinking maybe I
could add an extension at the doorway.

Maybe you should actually SEE one before judging. My wife and I regularly used the V-berth in our San Juan 23 and it was quite comfortable.

Not to mention plenty large enough for more than just sleeping.
