I don't think it would be that risky.
I'm sure my gonads would get pretty small when it came time to do it, but if your keel is the right size along with the right shape along with your boat having the right weight distribution along with having the right sea bottom along with the right forecast along with the right actual weather along with the right kedging anchors.

Okay, I think I've gotten myself far enough "along" to think it might not be that great an Idea.

But I'd love to hear from others that have done it.

Could Australia be leading the way in government unreasonableness ? In Australia it is illegal to beach any boat that has antifouling on it. In fact, you are not even allowed to dive over and scrub your boat in the water. We are supposed to haul our boats at proper haulout facilities where the waste contaminants are disposed of in " environmentally friendly ways". Which in Australia means pumping it back into the sea because there are no proper haulout facilities.
I asked harbour authority if I could beach my boat to antifoul because there was no haul out facility that would take a trimaran. He said, No and when asked him what I was supposed to do he just shrugged his shoulders.
I beached it anyway and when I was told I was not allowed to antifoul, I shrugged my shoulders.

Of course, this law is not policed vigorously yet but it won't be long.

This whole thing really annoys me. They won't let you use effective antifouling and then deny you the opportunity to clean your boat when the antifouling doesn't work.

Is it illegal anywhere else ?

We careen as often as necessary, we are a centre boarder and the stub keel is 700mm wide at the widest point, the boat is stable enough to allow you to walk any where on deck.
Re scrubbing, NZ is following Australia although to date not as zealously, everything on the bottom that you want to remove came from the sea therefore there shouldn't be a problem with it returning there. I also believe that the Aussie navy still uses TBT based antifoul although they have banned you and me using it.

I live in Jersey Uk and we have plenty of red tape here, but after hearing those problems maybe we are not so bad off!
