Wow I'm suprized everyone is pushing the Harken. Maybe that is the way to go. The Schaefer units just looked real heavy duty to me. Huh? Thanks I'll keep reading, I have a few months before I have to commit. I need them too, to save some coin after purchasing all of the new Pompannete hood stainless hatches and ports. OOOFA big cash. Ouch

Could have bought Manship and saved some coin. I think but don't know for sure that Manship made the hatches for Hood prior to going on there own. We have both on our boat.

Absolutely nothing wrong with Schaefer; if you like it, go for it.

Harken, Profurl, Fancor, Schaefer...
Pick the one you like best. They are all very good. You can't go wrong with anyone of them!
They have all been making them a long time and they are all made to last.

Have had Profurl on 3 of my boats -- ONE major complaint was/is stainless screws freezing in the aluminium. Did not have problem with Harken

I had the same problem with the furlex on my last boat. The new boat has a Harken. The next boat, if there is one, will also be a Harken.
