Canada: 1.56/100,000
United States: 4.7/100,000

Any genetic heritage that may have been focused in the early settler population has long been diluted by the waves of immigration that have populated all the “new world” countries over the last 400 years or so.

I think there are social/cultural differences at play here, but making founding genetics the cause is demonstrably untrue.
I blame Daniel Boone, Butch Cassidy, Doc Holliday and John Wayne.. as for Rambo.. he just eggs em on..

Re: Which countries in carribean and azores, canaries are guns ok

Those "foreigners" willing to actually migrate (anywhere) are definitely going to be less risk-averse than those who stay at home.

Again I am not claiming this is a big factor, but pretty sure would create at least some genetic differences in prevalence of rule-breaking.

And I also stand by my personal lived experience of westerners being widely involved in shady dealings while living as expats, not saying USians more so than others of course, plenty of Brits & Russians too.

Likely varies a lot by location, wild-west places like Cambodia and Thailand much more so than China for example, but wow Singapore Goa, Hong Kong, anywhere with lots of vice tolerated.

Bit like Vegas domestically. . .

Re: Which countries in carribean and azores, canaries are guns ok

I do not understand the wish to carry guns while cruising. We cruised full time for 15 years to more than 27 countries and never carried a gun or even wanted one. This is a U.S. phenomena.
Remember that old country tune with lyrics: 'Don't take your guns to town, boys;
Leave your guns at home, boys;...'

Highest incarceration rate in the world is nothing to laugh about or be proud of. It's expensive, and a waste of human capital.

I personally hope we stay in the United States with our guns the next time Europe needs our help. As a matter of fact lets just bring all our troops home and see how long the it is before Putins little green men are in the Balkans.

Not laughing, just stating a fact. Better enforcement yields more prisoners. Many other countries dont lock up the crazies.......near east???

Yup... I hear you. Private prisons full of 3 strikes and your out suckers and petty drug problems.. Costs of $40,000 k on average per person... Seems like a huge loss to me. For that kind of money you could cure cancer.

Then look at countries like the Netherlands which has an incarceration rate 1/10th of the US.

By your reckoning all the Dutch should have been killed by now..

Then look at all the mass shootings in the US. No other country in the world has this problem. Guns don't kill people. People with guns kill people.

To the original poster. Leave your gun at home and come out and join the cruising world. Its not as scary as the NRA would have you believe.

1. You needed good ships to war against Germany ? ( a land locked country )
2. If the Germans did not have to fight in the west Hitler would have had taken Stalengrad before winter. The Russians did not win against Hitler, Hitler lost to the Russian winter. If Hitler had taken Stalengrad it would have prolonged the war years and years and millions more people would have died. Russia would have eventually won but would have not stopped at Berlin and all of western Europe would be speaking Russian.

Dang it I knew I did not want to comment in this thread, it sucks you in.
Heck boatman61 if you were going to the boat show">Miami boat show thursday I would buy you a libation and we could talk boats, screw this political crap.

Not to mention pure evil, straight line without a break from the preceding versions of slavery and Jim Crow
