Where to buy for used sailboat

Ok. Here is another question most people think is not clear. Pls bear with me.

I'm in Hongkong where not too much used boat to choose from.

So i need to go on the other side of the world.

Considering to do some refit or fixing after i bought it!

And i hope to sail around that area and live on board for a while until i got real familiar with the boat. And have confidence to go blue water. (Do not know how long)

And also insurance, tax, living cost...

Where is my best bet ?

Pls also suggest what i need yo consider.

I am planning to find a cat 45ft +-

Fort Lauderdale Florida or maybe Tortola, BVI if you want a former charter boat. Do a yachtworld search and it should give you the answer.

45' cat isnt going to come cheap. You can find them used in the USA. All depends on how deep your pockets are. There are plenty of lower cost places to live but then you introduce the added complexities of parts availability and import taxes etc..... How big of a project are you ready for, an idea of how much your ready to spend, are you planning to do the work yourself or sub it out, all will bring more relevant answers. Yard labor here i expensive, places like say Cuba would have much lower labor costs but materials and equipment may be harder to come by.

+2 on Fort Lauderdale and the BVI. The biggest specialized cat brokers are in both places plus there are many other brokers as well. South Florida is probably the best place to work on a boat. Labor isn't cheap but everything is right there especially for cats and that can save money.
