When its Too Good to be True!

We are currently in Suriname anchored in the river beside a lovely little town called Domberg. The local hardware store is selling "International Micron Extra" antifoul at $165 USD for a 20 litre drum .Normaly this stuff sells for about $400 for 4 litres {the fisheries catalouge has it at $429 for a 4 litre tin } What do you think is it to good to be true ,the drum is slightly dented but otherwise looks fine . I have bought a drum ...should i fill up my boat with the stuff and sell it in Trinadad !!. It looks like the real deal.

Sounds like a great deal. Any dates on the can? I wonder how old it is.

In Domburg are several dutch fisherman with steel shrimp cutters. My advice is to ask them about this. They wil know if its a good deal or not.

No there was no dates on the drum that i can see .I gave it a good shake and it sounds quite liquid .Its basically $1800 usd worth of paint for $166 . I wonder what the shelf life is .Anyone know?

Shelf life is only two years, it may be way past expiry.
Odd that no date of manufacture can be found on it.

Yes, they do produce it in 20 L tins, but this lot may be several years old and well past its expiry (paint does not age well).

The only numbers are on top of the drum 1A2/Y1.6/100/11N NET 6711A-EUB. I wonder if the 2 year shelf life refers to after you open the tin ? . I have been given advice by another cruiser to turn the drum upside down as the main problem over time is that the active ingredients sink to the bottom and go hard .
