When is the time right?

So when is it time right to pack it in and just go sailing for few years or longer?
I have been studying cruising guides from Bahamas to the Windwards, for the most part the boat is ready to go. How do you just leave your job, (especially when you own it), how much money is enough to start out with, sell the house? it's an option. Anyway the more I read this forum, and go to the boat on weekends, we just don't want to come back. Also the issue of only being at this a year and a half has me a bit intimidated. I think I've got the "wanna go crusin blues bad"
Well lunch break over, back to work )-:

Go Now. Go Small. Forget the gizmos and gadgets. Just get on the water and go. Simple and Solid will take you anywhere!

Seriously, everyone makes their own decision.

Hi Immanuel,
Thats an impossible question for someone else to answer. You just have to figure out your finances, job situation and your time situation. I would not say "just do it" as that might be very irresponsible considering your life situation ...or it may be a great thing!

Will there be enough money in the kitty to cover your cruising expenses? Insurance, berthing, food, fuel, repairs, terrestrial travel to sight see once you get there, upgrades? Do you have a mortgage to pay?

Do you expect to be able to get your job back when you come back to a terrestrial lifestyle? What other means of employment and employment opportunities are there or do you have enough money now to retire?

Do you have kids in school? Do you feel comfortable home schooling? Do you need to wait for a child to go to college?

Does your significant other want to do this?

David
