A new boat is new until you use the word OLD. Its one year OLD. its less than a year OLD.

On the topic of changing the subject!!!
Might make that piece of string a Metre long, unless it is only used to measure things, but then my old Surveying lectures included issues around moisture absorption and length changes of fabric type tapes (or string), so the 99.99cm would soon stretch, hence the use of chains
