I think if I were to chose only one thing, then it would be a boat.

If two, I would ask some drinking water.

If three, some wind now and then.

Re: comfort food: whatever snacks you decide to bring for those stormy days and nights, make sure you diversify. For one long passage I found these really tasty fruit and nut bars in five flavours on sale, so bought a bunch. Quick energy with protein and good fats, tasty, what else could you ask for? By the end of that passage (it was stormy most of the way - before we started reading the weather well) we were tired of their tastes. But the end of the second passage with these bars, we couldn't stand to look at them.

Another comfort thing (yep, will sound motherly): bring enough clean underwear. NASA studies into livability in space determined that cotton absorbs most skin oils and dirt and gets saturated in five days. If you're actively getting dirty, then sooner. Cosmonauts reported satisfactory results when changing underwear every five days

From the book http://www.amazon.com/Packing-Mars-C.../dp/B00AR2BCLW - a fun read, especially on those boring shifts.

Sirius XM satellite radio, for when I get tired of the onboard collection of music.
