Just because I was stereotyping doesn't make it true!!!

But Zee.... you're probably right; us males and you females will probably not change much as a group, and that is a *good* thing! I like females to be just the way they are just fine. And if you know more about sailing then me (which you do), then I am grateful to learn from you.

Sadly, all sailing will likely be controlled by the “Enforcement of Ocean Navigation” agencies based in New York, Shanghai and Brussels with the Brussels agency still being as all Brussels agencies are today, utterly and completely devoid of any form of intelligent life.
Enjoy your sailing freedoms while we still have them, the almost endless variety of the “Elf and Safety” brigades are constantly seeking ways to end our harmless sailing pleasures.
By the way, with all those advances in automatic safe sailing, We, the sailors of today, will no longer be required but then, unless there are remarkable advances in medical technologies, I won’t be around then so I’m not unduly worried…James

I cant vouch for 35 years ago, i was 5 and rumour has it sailing on my dads 21ft steel thing that then sank when i was 8 (long story but oh well)

Grew up racing IOR boats so I assumed sailing was a perpetual bath, we just discovered Mylar for sails and if I remember correctly Spectra was just replacing wire halyards that used to rip the #@$# out of my hands.

We didnt have one but we heard of these things called Satnavs that were on all the gun boats, accurate to within 100m but only gave a lat and long, no such thing as a chartplotter

Production boats were all handmade

The future was wet, and hard to steer

If current trends are anything to go on boats will be bigger, cheaper, heavier and more complicated.
Everything will be electric and there will be more multihulls but there will still be more monohulls and people will still be arguing over which is better LOL!
