What size boat are you living or cruising full time on?

Formerly a 45' mono, now a 34' cat that is actually much larger inside than the mono was. Go figure... I still can't wrap my head around it.

I lived, as a bachelor, on a 25' Hunter (yeah stop laughing). And I lived on a 35' Coronado, also when single. Now I'm looking for something in the 40-50' range as I definitely want to have a private stateroom for me and the Mrs. Reasons being storage, and children, privacy in close quarters is worth every penny.

For most of the year, we live aboard a 62 foot (70 LOA) trawler. But, since the boat is still under construction, I would not say that we are "doing it" in style yet. After 7 years and 12000 man hours, it was time to move aboard! My wife is very good about not stepping on the tools and brushing off the sawdust when needed. Plus, we are still stowing most things in plastic tubs and hanging towels on c-clamps attached to a bulkhead.

Prior to this boat, I lived aboard several 30s and 40s footers. I sold my last house in 1993 and have never regretted the decision.

So, if you see us around, put on some work clothes and come on over!

We (my wife and I) have been living aboard our Hallberg-Rassy 40 for 2 1/2 years and the size, for us, seems perfect. We are currently in Europe and anything larger would make many harbors impossible to visit and costs increase a lot over 12 meters. We could get by with something smaller. but it is very nice to have the space.

I am actually living on a 42 foot Ketch, an Alpa 42' by S&S.
Have to say that more recent boats have more room for the same lenght.
Up to the later 70's (my boat is of the 1974) widths were narrower and long keel...
But still, I would not change her at all!

We have lived full time aboard since July 2002. Left the dock in Port Clinton, Ohio on Lake Erie to go cruising October 17, 2002.

We live aboard a wood Dickerson 41 ketch. (since this is the first one, it is the only woody, all the rest are fiberglass) A wonderful under-appreciated, under valued cruiser. With lovely lines, shoal draft, a kindly sea motion, and oodles of storage, she makes a marvelous cruising vessel.

Myself, wife and cat for 3 years now 33 Morgan O/I, which has same square living space as a 42 footer, and we are very comfortable, with all the perks, very beamy boat

36' now (43 overall). Was on a 32 before.

Most boats that are prebuilt have a lot of stuff you don't need. There are some areas that you wish would be bigger, and some you probably don't need. But typical mass production boats are a series of trade offs.

If I can design every square inch of a boat, I'd probably try to get down around 28' or so.
