Just spent 2 hour doing this.

CitriStrip Adhesiv e Remover, powder no paper towels. Let the Remover soften the glue, did powder no rub.

Works better than 3M and is not carcinogenic.

Gasket remover spray from auto parts stores works good for desolving adhesives.
