Joshua Slocum recounts a similar experience but, did not get taken for a ride like these folks did. I wonder if the whale thought it was helping the boat out by dragging it out to deeper water.

We saw humpbacks five miles out from Sorrento, WA yesterday. First say one a hundred metres or so off the port side. Then another one surfaced about twenty metres off the bow - we didn't know it was so close.

wow!! i haul in my fishing line when i see whales-- dont want to boat anything bigger than my cockpit sole.......and i dont relish the idea of a nantucket sleighride.... goes a lil beyond E ticket.....
