Went Sailing Today

Did the first sail of the year today. Is was sunny, but still a little cold at about 55F. It was very important to get done to check that everything was boat A OK because tomorrow it is going to get to close to 80 and I'm going to be absent from work!

Meanwhile there is only around 10 boats out in the mooring field that holds 200+. Days like tomorrow are why you go do your Spring boat work when the snow is still finishing melting off

Re: Went Sailing Today

Sweet bananas. Great to know that there is anyone sailing out there!

We are in the (ough nearly) tropics. I have not been out for half a year now ...

Lucky arctic ducks! ;-)

Cheers,
b.

Congrats on your first sail and on the second sail on Monday.

I did a small sail today, mainly to find a cozy cove to snug into as it was blowing 24 gusting 33 and a cool 60 ish here and I'm a wimp now a days. Alas all week will be cool., but that's summer on the bay

Second sail today. Main and head sail reefed and hit hull speed.

It's these same days that cause us, down in Florida, to finish our Spring boat work so we can cruise to your area in order to avoid the heat and tropical storms. We expect to start heading your way within the week!

Did you remember to swim on your anchor?

I don't normally use my anchor when sailing (normally in this case I've never deployed my anchor while under sail).

Re: Went Sailing Today

I know I know, just a wee joke based on the cold up there and some past anchor threads ... I'm sort of sad I'm not up there now enjoying the start of the season and the first sail to the harbor islands with my buddies.
Oh well, warm weather engine work continues.

Re: Went Sailing Today

Good few days on boat.
Found a rain leak that we'd been chasing for YEARS, cat only barfed a couple of times over snotty tide rips.
Everything worked, nothing broke.
Great food on board we slept well.....

We tested our Lithium batteries with very rainy, cloudy days while living like it was
totally sunny.
We ran them down to 35 % on purpose.
This morning after a pancake breakfast with the battery at 35%, the engine started like it was 100%.
What's not to like?
