We are buying a big boat

We are looking for help to get our Morgan 36 from Oyster Bay, NY to Jersey City, NJ via the East River and (omigod) Hell's Gate. Seems like a bad idea for my wife and I - who are novices at best - to go through such a gate on our first time out.

Ideas?
References?

Thanks to all!

Good luck with your trip. I own a Morgan 36T and keep it in Port Jefferson. Mine draws 7.5 feet.
