Re: Water in Bilge - Normal ?

EVERY boat is different...The important thing is 'change' or lack thereof, ie Normally I have 1" of water in the bilge lets say, and tomorrow I have 1.5 inches. No big deal, Now IF I find 12", something has changed and I now have a problem..

No way you can tell anything about any given boat just because it has a few inches of water in the bilge.

The main question about bilge water is "where did it come from?" Fresh or salt?

Is the water from rain, which is on/off, or a badly leaking seacock, which can sink a boat if left alone long enough..

Re: Water in Bilge - Normal ?

I find that having 1" of water in a bilge smells bad. The bilge pump should then be lowered if at all possible.
