Re: Wanted: Yanmar Instrument Panel advice

Thank you all for your input. I've decided to install a separate hour meter. AND, I have forwarded a copy of this thread to the Yanmar marine engine division, just in case they might want to remedy what clearly is an issue for many owners. I am not holding my breath.

Re: Wanted: Yanmar Instrument Panel advice

This is not answering your question, but I wonder what the cause is. Are the panels that fail exposed to the elements? If so, that could be a factor. I'm sure there will be some immediate replies if anyone reading this has the same problem with a meter kept dry down below.

Our meter is also experiencing intermittent issues with the hour meter and it is not exposed to the elements. I have seen a correlation with ambient temperature, however, with the hour meter not working pretty much all winter but working now that temperatures have risen.

Re: Wanted: Yanmar Instrument Panel advice

This Yanmar hour meter problem is not new. Been reported for several years already. Someone actually found a way to repair it and publish it either here or on Sailboatowners.com Personally, I'll rather install a separate hour meter then mess with the repair. Forget about Yanmar fixing it. Not going to happen.

Re: Wanted: Yanmar Instrument Panel advice

I know this is an old thread but I'm having the same problem. I wanted to post a link to a Youtube video.
