Wanted: Image of Hill Inlet Whitsundays

Does anyone have a high quality image of Hill Inlet, Whitsundays taken at low tide from a Boat that they could let me have copyright free? (You must be the owner of the image).

I have written a prospective article for a magazine that requires some images to go with it.

Unfortunately during the trip my camera CMOS had some weird fungus growing on it, which was not visible on the pictures when viewed via the small camera LCD, but is very obvious once you get it on a computer - I have salvaged a few, but do not have a good image of Hill Inlet.

Help would be greatly Appreciated

I think the forum has Down-Sized the images?

Dr Sea & 44'Cruisingcat images from the hill look very good, but the res is very low - Can they be sent via a PM and hold their original resolution?

Thanks Everyone

Re: Wanted: Image of Hill Inlet Whitsundays

Very impactive area for an article..... Good on ya !!

It was just Erica and I on a 35 foot sailing vessel, bare boating the Whitsundays and our draft was too deep for the shallows of Hill Inlet.

So, we anchored next door at Tongue bay, and dinked ashore like some of the other posters , walked up the hill and took photos. We have them framed and up on our walls here at home.

Later, we dinked around the point, into Hill inlet, we noticed some shallow draft sailing vessels that were anchored , and we motored over in the dinghy and then thru Hill Inlet very slow and paying close attention.

We navigated partly by memory and mostly by eye ball navigation since those sands tend to shift around. We are about halfway out of the inlet, when I looked behind us, and a line of several of those shallow draft vessels were all following us out. I told Erica, that i hoped we had chosen the proper channels as I did not want a parade of boats sitting on the bottom.

Worked out perfectly, and we waved to them, as they headed out into deeper water.

As you know long and beautiful Whitehaven Beach is right there as well, with the sand sparkling like diamonds, and the many, many Stingrays, zipping about in those shoal waters. What a treasure of mother nature.

We were very impressed with Hill Inlet and not to many people are familiar with the beauty of the area.

Well, after returning to Socal, about a year ago,, we were in Costco's huge discount store, and we spied a Kiosk with large photos of amazing natural scenes throughout the world. Each of these , with a frame, are about 2 plus feet by 5 feet . Spectacular !

We are are going thru the different pictures, and "HOLD UP. THAT IS HILL INLET !! ..What do you think ? Took about two seconds and out came the credit card ( $250.00 ) and that large framed full color photo of Hill Inlet sits proudly decorating our living room. Daily, that picture makes our hearts feel good, and brings back marvelous memories of the Whitsundays and Australia.

I am sure your article or guide book will be well appreciated . Congrats.

Cheers

Denny and Erica

Re: Wanted: Image of Hill Inlet Whitsundays

Funny, we've spent weeks in there, sandflies are rarely an issue where we anchor.

Sure they're there on the beach at dawn and dusk and up the creeks when we go crabbing, but really not a worry on the boat.

But I guess anything to make you feel better about not being able to get in.

Re: Wanted: Image of Hill Inlet Whitsundays

I spent about 3 weeks in Hill Inlet in the early 80's Did not see another boat, no footprints on any beaches inside the inlet. I do remember MASSIVE stingrays, they must have been 2m across!
