"Walkie-talkie" headsets

A decade or so ago, we bought a pair of kids radio headsets from our favorite marine supply house -- Toys R Us -- for about twenty bucks. We use them a lot: anchoring or picking up a mooring, or while up the mast for maintenance or coral observaton, and have found them to be really useful. But despite their immaculate pedigree, our "intergalactic communicators" are beginning to fail us, and we would like to replace them. They've gone out of favor with kids I guess, 'cause the toy folks don't seem to stock them any more...

We seem to remember seeing a unit that had a belt mounted battery and electronics pack and an In the ear speaker and bone conduction mike combo, but have no idea who the vendor was. Do any of you know of a source for such items, or have alternative suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

I can attest that those headsets are the greatest thing since sliced bread. I bought a pair at a boat show about 5 years ago and the hollering and missed communications have ended. I highly recommend buying a pair.

we have the crusing solutions headsets. they work quite well. I don't like the double muffs that close off both ears but i can wear one of them off the ear pretty easily.
I would not want the belt pack with cord.
I do plan on rigging up a neck strap in case they get bumped off my head, so they won't go overboard

What about something like the 10-20 mile walkie talkies with a headset. I've got a boatload of headsets from cell phones, etc.

Here's a link to one of them. Midland Radio

I'm not sure if this one is any good or not...no experience. These could also be useful for communicating when out in the dink or just when walking around town.
Has anyone tried this solution?

We use them a lot but the wires get in the way on the boat when anchoring etc. The VOX on them is a bit hard to use because there is a delay when you talk so part of the sentence does always not get communicated.
