Hi Guys,
I have a
boat still in Bali. I intend to return to it in May next year. I have experienced the difficulty in getting a CAIT and even greater difficulty in getting a PIB (Temporary
Import Permit).
I found Medana Marina on north western Lombok very helpful. The delay in getting a PIB was only 3 days.
However I hope all this paperwork will be a redundant when these new laws are enacted. However things take a LONG time in some of the outer islands, so I am not holding my breath.
However the cruising there in
Indonesia is fantastic. The people are very friendly and helpful. Whilst cruising down through Kalimantan, East Java and finally to Bali, we found the officials we met could not have been more helpful.
I really believe that getting rid of the CAIT and the Temporary
Import Permit for foreign yachts will see an increase in cruisers visiting these islands. I know they won't be disappointed.
