I was at the
fuel dock in Marsh Harbour and a
charter catamaran pulled in front of me. As they were offloading the charterers, a diver jumps in the
water with a GoPro underwater
camera and photographs the entire length of the
keel looking for damage from groundings and hitting underwater obstructions.
We talked to the
keel photographer and the keel
inspection photos are a routine event at the completion of a
charter.
It seems that these boats run aground frequently and damage occurs. It does not surprise me because I have seen the charter cats move aggressively and at high speed in very thin
water.
