Re: Trawler or Motorsailer?

My boats get more and more motorboat like as I age. Currently I have a Nauticat 33 and it seems a trawler with sails. Works for me.

Re: Trawler or Motorsailer?

Looks great, think I can find one for under $20,000? Maybe SUNK.

Re: Trawler or Motorsailer?

I'm with dogman, we love the nordhavn motorsailor... I would lean more towards the motorsailor as I would always want the sail option in case fuel was ever a problem or getting really low, etc.. I've always been from the old school of having redundancies with everything.. In time, I would love to be able to wean myself off of diesel altogether and possibly have an electric motor option by then..

One can always dream I guess...

Re: Trawler or Motorsailer?

The trawler Coot isn't a motorsailer, but the optional steadying sails provide some stabilization and perhaps a bit of extra range.

Re: Trawler or Motorsailer?

The wife and I cruised for ten years on a HC 33T. And it was great as we were much younger then. Now if I can figure out a way to afford it I'd like to have a Island Packet SP cruiser. All the best of both worlds IMHO. Enclosed pilot house, motors at 8.5 knots, and also sails well, even better than the HC.
