Travels in the PNW

Would have liked to but putting in a new motor this weekend. It was 75º in the sun but 55º in the shade.
It's suppose to be even warmer tomorrow (Sun).

We were out there today. Funny how special those sunny days become in Seattle after long gray, rainy winters. We were just absolutely ecstatic to be out on the water, with sun on our faces.

There doesn't seem to be any Customs along the Pacific side of Vancouver Is.

We just returned from a short trip to Port Angeles a couple of weeks ago. The marina is great and it's a nice walk to town. If you like Thai food, check out Thai Peppers just across from the big hotel on the waterfront. Sailing in the harbor is fun for day sails, in and out around the big ships at anchor. A great place to spend a day or two.

Nice videos, I bet based on where you were that we probably saw each other on the water and didn't know it- if you saw a Bene 393 with two kayaks strapped to the deck, that was us! Cute kiddo!

Woo Wee! We went for a nice day sail today...it had a little bit of everything. We started out with about 3-5 kts of wind...that dies completely, was replaced by perfect 10-12 kt winds, which were replaced by 15, 18 , 20, and finally 25 kt winds. It was a steady wind, for the most part, though, so not too bad. We went out to take the kids whale watching- they were definitely out and about in the usual spots near Everett. Thanks for a great day, spring!!! Anyone else on here go out today?

I was sure wishing I was out there...Was it warm on the water as well?...I was in a short sleeve shirt all day.

It was nice! I needed a fleece with the wind, and gloves/hat when beating into the wind, but it was a warmer wind than we've had in a while- it felt like spring!

Great day on the water. Took a friend out who was in town from New Orleans. He loved it. We missed the 25 kt winds, but managed to spend a good part of the afternoon cruising along at 6.5-7kts with 15 knot winds.

When I was in Port Townsend I had to make a reservation to haul my boat.I called Port Angeles and they said it was 4:30 and I would have to wait till 8am the next day. I was in the yard and back in the water 2 weeks before Port Townsend could help me.

I was out in the north end of Saratoga Passage (east side of Whidbey) yesterday and had a similar experience to Geo's. Started out calm and built up to 20- 25 knots with 4 ft seas. This was my first time skippering without my partner along and huge learning experience. We averaged 6 knots for the 90 minute crossing. I probably should have reefed my 150% genoa though, as I think that was too much sail for those conditions. As Steve often quips, "Dem what died was da lucky ones!"
