Scratch that one.

Nana Juana quoted me some very low rates last year too. I assume they are trying to gain some market share. Judging from the number of masts I saw stickng up there last week, the strategy is working.

Maybe he meant "leeks"? Guatemala is a major producer of those. Anyone with a phobia involving them might want to stay away.

On the other hand, maybe he wants to keep something secret and doesn't want it to leak out. Some of those cruisers hanging around the Rio are real gossips.

True, the gringo rumor mill is out of control on the Rio. I never believe anything I hear from the gringo mill....there is of course always a kernel of truth, but on the Rio its usually really well hidden. The locals are much less prone to embellish and distort.

Of course, if you have something to hide and are worried about that "leaking" out then Guatemala is still a relatively easy place to hide out. Getting harder though.

On the Rio our just puzzling over what Canibul means by "leaks" would be the nucleus for a full blown rumor mill story...I could see it blossoming into Canibul being another Snowden, or better yet part of a secret network of Snowden's. I hear they are looking for a good place to hide from Big Brother before springing their next big leak....and that Otto Perez (Presidente) may grant them asylum in exchange for dirt to use as leverage in negotiations with the USA...and that John McAfee is funding the whole operation! They are posing as cruisers and communicating via cryptic coded posts on CF referencing "travel lifts" and "leaks"...the code has not been broken yet, but the NSA is working on it.

So....how is Mr Snowden doing Canibul? ;-)
