Re: Transit Time? NY-FL
I would not sign any book deals yet, the weather off is not getting any better, and inside through Georgia is less then hospitable for 6'6" draft.
But I'm confident he'll get there with this support team helping him every inch of the way, where to stay, where to get fuel and where to eat. An adventure by committee!!

Wait. Over soon? You got a nuclear warhead strapped to your hull, Scoobert? Planning to take the eastern seaboard with you?

Re: Transit Time? NY-FL
So scoobert, you are headed down to Swansboro or something today? The gusts to 45 knots is no longer in the forecast....
Anyway, that is a killer outside run from Beaufort to Wrightsville, but you'll get another shot soon. Cape Fear to Charleston (or beyond) is another good hop. Winds look like they ease to the NE but I have not checked forecast farther south.
Add up all the money you spend on restaurants and think about boat upgrades. It can be eye opening, and inspire one to cook some of that rice you brought along. I cook way more on the boat than at home, and usually I can't justify spending the kind of money it takes to buy really good meal at a restaurant. They have to turn a dime, the ingredients are ho-hum, and so food from my farm is much higher qaulity than what the Sysco trucks deliver to even "nice" restaurants. Threw some lamb shanks in the cooler last week, and braised them in veggies and wine to share with a buddy in Oriental. We agreed that a meal like that could simply not be purchased anywhere in PAmlico or Craven Counties that night.... and I had about $3 in it Oh, and cooking something like that in the force 10 on a cold afternoon at anchor? That's livin' right.
Hope you guys have a happy thanksgiving. I just got two big turkeys I raised into the brine, will smoke them in the morning.
