Tips for sleeping on shore

Planning a trip to San Diego soon. It will have been 417 days (a little over 10,000 hours) since I've slept on shore in a real shore bed.

I was wondering if anybody had any tips for me?

Do they make a "random boat noise" app for my iphone? Something with halyard slaps, maybe some wave noise, a creek or two, and a flashlight rolling around?

I've got an anchor watch app I can look at every time I get up to use the head.

Anything else I'm forgetting?

Prop you bed on a slight angle as well.

Hang a wet towel above the bed, and have someone wake you in the middle of the night while worriedly informing you the big boat next to you is dragging anchor and coming your way.

In Southern California you can almost count on earthquakes to give you the feeling of a rolling anchorage.

There is actually an app called Rain 3D or something like that which has quite realistic background noise including a marina setting i think

Find a ringtone/alarmtone for your phone that matches your anchor drag alarm. Then set it to go off at 2:00 am.

The biggest problem I have sleeping ashore, in a hotel at least, is unatural light/dark patterns. Light pollution from outside makes it too bright to sleep and if I draw the black out drapes then I have no idea when to wake up.

LOL... some great tips here. I'm kinda concerned about sleeping in too late now! my goal is to drink as much Sculpin IPA as possible before returning to Mexico, and there's plenty of time to sleep when I get back!

Is it better to fly with growlers or cans?

Don't forget a low ceiling and water pump noise, intermittently, in the middle of the night.

Instead of turn down service, maybe I could get them to come by at some random time and just lift the bed up 6" on one side and then drop it.

and then release some mosquitoes into the room.

I think you will find that your bed will feel very much like its moving and you will feel like your going to fall off of it, thats if you dont have your land legs. Happened to me after a long trip, very strange feeling indeed.

Follow this procedure:

Bits to buy:

• Alarm Clock
• Electronic Switch
• Solenoid
• Pulleys
• Mechanical Actuator
• Large bucket according to desired Beaufort

Building instructions:

1. Connect alarm clock to electronic switch
2. Electronic switch to solenoid
3. Solenoid to mechanical actuator
4. Select amount of realism involved and fill bucket accordingly
5. Hang bucket
6. Set Alarm clock at random intervals

Drink a couple of Buds and go to bed.
