Another urban legend present here at CF.

You are 100% wrong. In Russia there is both old and new money.

It is not that the phenomenon did not exist, it is the fact that prior to 1990 there was no data sources to measure and compare.

Re: This Just Floated Into Seattle

Why? The Russian profiteers stole the big companies when Russia became "free". One day the head of a company working for the proletariat (not really!)......and next... billionaire!

Re: This Just Floated Into Seattle

If you go to St. Barts for New Years Eve, you will see everyone of the boats listed so far plus about 40 more. It's an amazing sight to behold. Probably more than 10 billion dollars floating in 1/2 mile.

I like the looks of "A". Seen it several times and it always makes me stare. It reminds me of the Nautilus. Eclipse is nice, but I like Luna better (same owner).

Bikes and diesel jerry cans for extra fuel, no room for them, but they could need them, think so?

TF I sail a boat... anyone who says yacht has more money than brains...
A yacht /ˈjɒt/ is a recreational boat or ship. The term originated from the Dutch Jacht meaning "hunt".[note 1] It was originally defined as a light fast sailing vessel used by the Dutch navy to pursue pirates and other transgressors around and into the shallow waters of the Low Countries. After its selection by Charles II of England as the vessel to carry him to Britain from Holland for his restoration, it came to be used to mean a vessel used to convey important persons.... today known as dickheads..

Re: This Just Floated Into Seattle

The Megayacht "A" doesn't look quite as ugly when seen from dead ahead (taken in Antigua in May 2013)

but ugly when seen from aft

Yes. Some look like trawlers, some look like research vessels and there is one that looks like a U-boat.

I would not want any of them.

I've always thought Steve Job' self-designed iYacht looks like it was made with legos

Oh good heavens! What a spectacularly horrible boat. I wonder if the instrument panel only has one button to press?

Any particular names for "old money"?

P.S. I'm from there, so please enlighten.

I heard it is controlled by 5 iMacs! I do think it would be interesting to be inside in a stormy sea. All those glass panels come to a point so you must have quite a view.

The rumour was that this one's Steven Spielberg's. Seen in the Bahamas last season.
