I can't see any cons .

There are no cons, anyway at his age. I lived on a 30 ft. Morgan for 7 years in the eastern Caribbean. I loved every minute of it. But I never started till I was 63. By the time I was 73, I had sun damage all over my head and arms. It didn't hurt, but it was a type of cancer. So I've retired from sailing but still love it. Mac

Out of the 8 years I spent in the Caribbean , I spent 4 or 5 summers(hurricane season) and really enjoyed them. Yes it was hotter, but the crowds were gone and the sailing was lighter wind and it was beautiful. Had to run for a hurricane hole several times, but never had a direct hit. I learned where the less used hurricane holes were, and would go to them rather than worry about the neglected local fish boats when the wind started blowing. It was the GOOD LIFE. ______Grant.

Thanks for posting the video! Took me back to my first liveaboard 50 years ago when I spent close to 10 years gunk holing the BC coast, working coastal logging camps, beach combing and commercial fishing. This young man has it dialed in... Do it for as long as it's fun then move on. Phil

Good luck with the cancer. Hope it is carcinoma not melanoma.

You must be on the hill, hard, like me. Has nothing to do with a boat on the hill.

Can't get the salt out of your blood.

Bathing in salt water is fine but not having a fresh water rince is a "con". I'm also over 60 and into my 4th year living on a 34 foot sloop in the western Caribbean. Protecting myself from the sun is more important now than it was 30 years ago. A bimini is a neccessity in the tropics for full time old guys.
Refrigeration is over rated. I only use it when at a dock. When I was a young man travelling the world I remember having to adjust to room temperature beer in England. It wasn't as hard as you might think. The same goes for rum now.

A can't understand that? You no longer want to be as bronze as a Greek God. Me neither. Maybe the younger readers will learn from those with snip and stitch from the sun.

No, bad internet is definitely a pro. We are (unexpectedly) back in America for a while, and the amazingly fast Internet here is a huge distraction. I feel like a recovering drug addict, in that I have to consciously choose several times a day not to get sucked into a random Internet binge that ultimately adds up to nothing but wasted time. In the Caribbean it was so easy, a page would take long enough to load that I could have a second thought and walk away.
