Re: The Narrows, Gladstone Qld

One difficulty I foresee is "location" is poorly defined. Does it mean your current location, your most frequent location, your home location or your boats location of registration. But then does it matter, "location" is where you think you are and I think that is what people are curious about.

Dont confuse them with too much detail, They will all want come here,

Cooktown all the way to Broome is pretty sparse for resident Boatys of any sort,

Darwin is the exception, A few tiny spots here and there, around the coast,

Cheers,
Brian.

Re: The Narrows, Gladstone Qld

[QUOTE=Dapa1066;1281437] Was just wondering what is the status of passage between Gladstone & Keppel Bay via The Narrows due to the LNG construction. I'm heading up that way in August.

Hello DP
May I alert you to the Notices to Mariners that are issued by email (free-of-charge) by Maritime Queensland. You are no doubt aware that there is major wharf construction, anchorage dredging operation, and port upgrade in vicinity of the Curtis Island and the Port of Gladstone. The Notices will assist you with your planning.

Re: The Narrows, Gladstone Qld

Came through the narrows yesterday. Lots of construction work going on at Gladstone, plenty of tug/barge and ferry traffic, but no problem. There are a couple of pile driving barges with mooring lines to avoid, but it's pretty straightforward.

Looks like a road bridge and a pipe bridge are being built, so this year might be the last year masted vessels can get through.

Thumbs up Re: The Narrows, Gladstone Qld

The Narrows are OK. Just remember to contact the harbour master before entering the leads coming into Gladstone and when leaving the marina. He will advise you of any traffic. Time it right with high tide for the Narrows, you may have to anchor and wait a while at Swan Ck on the southern side but it is a beautiful spot and well worth the effort.
