Re: The Best thing you added to the boat under $25

An adaptor to allow connection of a Coleman disposable gas cylinder to the gas supply. No need to worry about running out of gas in the middle of nowhere with one of these and one or two disposable cylinders onboard.

Re: The Best thing you added to the boat under $25

3gal weed sprayer which I hung off the stern over the swim platform. No more salt water drippings in the cockpit or the cabin. Still keeping my solar shower bags but they never lasted more than 2-3 seasons if used extensively.

12v fans.

Luci light.

Large roll of white "gorilla" duct tape.

$10 plastic waterproof case.

Champagne bottle stopper.

$25 Painter's Drop Cloth converted to a sunshade.

Multi-Pocket organizer Brenda sewed up from an old sail. Keeps all those little "where the heck is it" items at hand.

Soap dispenser scrub brush for dishes.

Solar Shower.

Brenda's sailing journal. Help our old minds remember things down the road.

Brita Filtered Sport water bottles.

Swimsuits (well, at least Mike's suit was under $25).

Omni Oven.

Used Pressure Cooker

Lot's of cheap reader glasses to replace all the ones Mike tried to teach how to swim.

Oh yeah, how could I forget:

great for those of us with older eyes who get tired of yelling, "hand me the flashlight!" especially when we are singlehanding.

Just went sailing with a friend who put a couple of these in his cupboards. I'm sold!

Zojirushi stainless steel mug. It'll keep boiled water warm to 70 degrees C after 8 hours.

I boil water, use some to make tea, pour the rest of the water in and use it later to make soup. It is the best.

You've obviously been putting them out in the sun; leave them in the shade and they'll last for much longer

Any Idea where I can get some "Swedish army surplus collapsible water bladders" for about $12.

Thorne, try an army surplus store. You might even find one on line (though I bet you are smart enough to have already tried)

Could be the O2 breeze fan $15-$20 in most department stores. Just clip the 120v wall wart off and solder on a 12v plug. Good fan. Same power as a 747 camframo, but more air and quiet. (Not wall mountable though.)

Could also be a 2 gallon garden sprayer for $12 that makes a dandy solar shower.

Or a $20 canvas drop cloth that makes a dandy summer sun shade for the boat.

Or a $14 wireless remote control for the autopilot, Requires an engineer.... luckily I is one.

Or a $6 feed bucket from the farm store (GO Bucketneers!) which has a heavy duty handle.
So I got the 2 gallon sprayer and you are right! For those of us with pocket cruisers it makes a great efficient little mini pressurized water system! And you can leave it out in the sun to get a little warm or heat up a couple cups to pour in for a warm shower or sitz bath, should one need one....
