Re: Texas?

Kemah is THE place in Texas for boat refit supplies, however Yards are a bit pricey here, Rockport is better. I can personally recommend Hooking Bull boatyard. Clean ,friendly and reasonable rates, could probably store your boat there on the hard if needed. I wouldn't go to house of boats yard, it is a bit of a mess and their story changes on whether they can haul your boat depending on who you talk to. As far as hurricanes, either move away from them or find a sheltered place and tie yourself is the normal summer weather here.

Re: Texas?

There is also Pier 77 in Galveston. Pier 77 Marine Service: The Most Comprehensive Boatyard on Galveston Bay
This would keep you close to Kemah for parts/supplies. I am pondering going down there for my haul out this winter.

hopefully I will keep this updated....

Re: Texas?

Clear lake marine center is DIY. Not sure about longer term storage rates though. I hauled my other boat there a few years ago and over 4 weeks, did most of the refit myself.

As for hurricanes, anywhere along the Texas coast will be a toss up. However, if you're up in the kemah area at least you'll be 25 miles inland. Every mile helps.

Let us know what you find. Good luck with the trip north.
