I purchased an 11 metre design one which needs a new mast and boom. I am looking at a self furling set. Will this devalue the vessel or disqualify it from competion?

Thats something you would need to ask the race committee. However, if youre just club racing, no, it wont prevent you racing. At worst it will slow you down a little to windward and your race handicap will reflect that.

It will add value only to someone who wants a furler on an 11meter.
To be honest its not a massive headsail on an 11 meter. Roller Furling will only really allow you a quick pack up. Its not like you would use it as a roller "reefer".

I love roller furlers, but on an 11m, I would simply lower and fold the sail.

Which is a feature I personally would like. I just do not watch the "devalue" the boat.

It wouldnt devalue the boat a lot as reversing the process is reasonably easy. The down side is you will spend a "lot" of money on something that isnt really needed on a day boat. You would basically have to right that investment off as it would most likely hold no value to a future purchaser.

The mast and boom have be replaced as they are both broken due to a collision.

Yes to both. (Assuming by "competition", you mean 11 metre one design class racing. If it's club type, open class "beer can" racing, it shouldn't stop you racing).

My honest opinion is to simply put a new mast and boom on and sail it for a season before adding the furler. I reckon after 6 months you wont see the need for it.
