Well... on my calculations that's competitive if you decide to go for it. I think they frown on the whole engine thing though...

It's funny, I've never given the race that much thought, but this year... I started to catch myself wondering how it would be for a Swanson 42 to compete again. A Swanson 42 sank in the 1998 race (the crew were rescued), so I feel like I should hold up the side a bit.

Yeah, I know, dream on... probably costs more to enter the race than we paid for the boat. And what do I know about coastal/ocean sailing anyway?

Still, it's good to dream.

Matt, wend me a PM if you're serious about this. For here, my only comment is that almost everything we did to our first Insatiable to make her suitable for cruising slowed her down because of adding weight. Still, it's doable.

That's a sailboat race. Let's stay on sailboats, but let's accept them all. In most parts and most races all kinds of sailboats are allowed to race. This exclusion makes no sense. It is something from another century, I know that sailors are conservative but this is way too much.

I could be wrong, I have been before, but I think one slight factor preventing multis from entering the S2H is the lack of berthing facilities for the big monsters once they get to Hobart. it gets crowded enough down there as it is. I don't think Customs House serves drinks with umbrellas either. Flame away

It depends on the "monsters" but those guys are used to camp and I bet that it would not be for that they would not race. Even the ORMA class boats that sail on those parts certainly have place for all the crew, I mean, they have to put at least one more berth, and then take turns to sleep. Or maybe not, maybe they are happy with only one berth

I'd like to hear from Love and War about the last leg of their voyage. From the tracker at the time, it appeared that L&W were the lead boat, but suddenly started going back and forth over the same ground. At the time, I thought that they must have had some kind of gear failure. Learned later that they were searching for the downed Cessna.

I thought that they would have been given credit for the lost time, but is seems not, as they were in the lead at the time.
