"The fastest yacht in the southern hemisphere, Sean Langman’s imposing 60-foot
trimaran Team
Australia and its six adrenaline-fuelled crewmembers are gearing up to try and break the first of a number of
South Pacific course and
race records. World-renowned
marine forecaster Roger ‘Clouds’ Badham says conditions this coming Friday, February 22, could create the perfect
weather window to break Mari Cha III’s 1999 course
record from
Sydney to Hobart. "
I know the guys really want to do it in 24 hours. Which will be a big challenge.
Current record is 1 day 18 hours 27 minutes and some seconds.
Mari Cha is 147 foot and runs with 27 crew. Team
Australia is 60 foot and has 6 crew.
Also the guys are pushing the message that they are have a clean run green run, human
power only - no engines running non stop to drive canting keels and stuff.
Good Luck Lads.
