Surveyor Recommendation - St. Petersburg

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good surveyor in or around St. Pete--near enough to avoid paying overnight travel costs? The two with whom I've spoken concerning previous boats are far enough away that their fee would include travel.

Edit: St. Petersburg, Florida. Not the former Leningrad.

Thanks

Surveyor Recommendation - St. Petersburg

I used Tom Laskey out of Fort Myers, highly recommended. He covers most of SW Florida. http://www.floridamarineyachtsurveyor.com.

Regards,
David

Thanks, David (again). You'd given me Tom's name back in September in connection with another potential boat farther north, outside of his area, and he put me in contact with someone up there. But I'd forgotten about your recommendation and the fact that he was relatively close to St. Pete. I reached out to him yesterday by email; will call today. Thanks

Sorry I did not make the connection, just assumed you were someone new ;-). Hope things work out for you, regardless of which surveyor you find to do the job.

David

Re: Surveyor Recommendation - St. Petersburg

We were in St Pete and used Rick Shelly. He surveyed 2 boat's for us. The first we passed on, the second we bought. We did the mandatory repairs for ins and then he resurveyed for us. Reasonable rates. If you want to know everything that's wrong with the boat then he is your guy. If you use him tell him Jim and Sherrin Scott says Hi. We have a Morgan 461.

Try Rich Parrey, Coral Marine Services in St Pete. He surveyed our Caliber 47 and has done several for members of the St Pete Power Sqd.
