The Summer Sailstice
is coming up Saturday June 21st.
There are going to be a lot of sailors out and covering thousands of miles of ground. This is a great time for us to contribute back to the boating
For those of you with transducers and nav units on your boat that can take a micro chip, I encourage you to collect sonar data and contribute it to be included in bathymetry charts
Here are instructions of how to do this:
: Raymarine | Plotter tutorial | Navionics
: Garmin | Plotter tutorial | Navionics
Humminbird: Humminbird | Plotter tutorial | Navionics
Think how much of a difference in charts
we could make if just some of us recorded data as we sailed!
Here is an example of how sonar data collection can make a difference in the map of an area:
Let's make this the best Summer Sailstice ever by giving back to our boating
community by improving map data!
Let me know if you have questions about collecting data to help improve maps for our fellow sailors!
